Went to see the FLOWERS – FLORA IN CONTEMPORARY ART & CULTURE exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. I really enjoyed it – it covers a really wide use of flowers in art and culture (as the name suggests) and was just really delightful to look at.

Photo of a large rectangular painting hanging on a white gallery wall. The painting has large flowers in orange, pink and yellow on a royal blue background. The blooms are arranged as if someone is holding the stalks underneath so that they're like bunched together in the middle of the painting (though they still take up most of the canvas).

This thought prompted by remembering how one person was commenting on how the particular snack bowls seemed to “live” on the tea table that they’d seen and how it must be because drinking tea stimulates appetite etc and couldn’t event consider that putting snacks out for your guests is just a normal hospitality thing (at least within my family’s culture).

I don’t even practice gongfu tea myself but if someone comes round there will be snacks on the table ready.

Joined a tea (primarily Chinese tea) discord because I had a discount code for some tea website and they had a discord and it is fascinating how white the vibe is, particularly since my experience with tea drinking (particularly gongfu tea) has primarily been with my Chinese family and like… it’s not a huge, serious, formal deal. It’s just hanging out, drinking tea.
