So after stealing my Dad’s unread Lord of the Rings box set just before the first film came out (it’s not so much stealing as rescuing it from my mum giving it away), I’ve finally got my Dad to read something related to LotR.

Okay so it’s this, but it’s a start. My Dad kept getting confused while watching the films as there are assloads of characters. “So Christopher Lee is Sauron?” “No. He’s Saruman. Sauron is the big flaming eye.” etc.

At least he didn’t call Smeagol “Froda”.
