The venue had their support listed as “Beautiful Listens” everywhere and it was mildly entertaining to find out that they’re really “Enjoyable Listens” and they have a kind of what if Gabriel Bruce was a slightly eccentric English man.
Sleep Token on Tuesday night were AMAZEFACE. I discovered that their support Bilmuri’s name is pronounced “Bill Murray”” which in hindsight makes more sense with their vibe.
Last night I saw Electric Six who turn out to be great live and have 15 albums – who know? Other than lots of people obvs but this is what happens when I buy tickets in March for a gig in December for a band who I only really listened to 20 years ago.

Listening to a podcast and once again, as much as I enjoy this podcast, why are the episodes so long.

I made soup!
Mostly, “what’s in the fridge” soup because lol turns out I had no carrots – so cavalo nero (which is what prompted the soup thoughts), onion & garlic (obvs), some of the billion cherry tomatoes I have somehow, mushrooms, potatoes and cannellini beans.
Then some chorizo because the only soup recipe I know is caldo verde and I put Worcestershire sauce in because it needed something and turns out it was that
Watching Star Trek VI again because it’s on TV and reminded that this was the first film I saw in a cinema.
Yes, I was into Star Trek but like… it’s quite a film for my parents to take their 7/8 year old to see.

I used to post a lot on twitter and then twitter happened and now I’m not really there anymore and neither are a lot of people I would typically follow there – though it’s fifty-fifty on whether that’s because I only look at the “vroooom” motorsport list and not my following or because they’ve actually stopped posting there like I have.
Parts of it are like the post-livejournal splintering. Parts of it are worse because that was so long ago and some of my friends are no longer on the planet for me to be able to follow them to a new social media platform and it feels like I’m leaving them behind, though they’re not there to be left behind. If you get me.
There’s elements of keeping a dead loved one’s phone number in your phone/address book.
I read a lot of email newsletters and of course, I have a backlog of unread newsletters but once again it’s like stepping back into a better time, where the world felt better (though of course, these newsletters are all written during a time AFTER the last time I retreated into the past they offered that I can’t even remember what that event that sent me there was).
Trying to figure out what newsletters in my sidebar I’m still subscribed to and what ones are missing – I guess I’ll have to come back to this one.

RSS basically works like social media should work. Using RSS is a chance to visit a utopian future in which the platforms have no power, and all power is vested in publishers, who get to decide what to publish, and in readers, who have total control over what they read and how, without leaking any personal information through the simple act of reading.
