Slowly slowly

This morning Programming Spiders, Bots, and Aggregators in Java, by Jeff Heaton arrived in the post. I figured that I should at least have a vague idea of what I want to do and this will, even if not exactly about intelligent agents, help me along the way to making some kind of agent… if not intelligent.

It has lots of words and few pictures :(. Looks like one of those books where I’ll have to get out the old notebook and make notes on to shove in here and there to help me remember what the page was talking about after I’ve read it.

Should be fairly interesting though and it comes with a cd of…something which I’m sure will be useful.

I think you can tell I got distracted by the James Bond book that arrived at the same time. 😉

Introduction

While I am slightly addicted to blogging, sometimes it does come in very handy to help organise my thoughts. Having more than one allows me to organise for certain topics or areas of my life. Hence a blog about my final year project.

Of course, not everyone will find it interesting and I don’t expect to get many readers, if any, but still… it’ll be useful to me. 😀

A bit more about the project
I’m aiming to build an intelligent agent that can search the blogosphere for entries that are related and relevant to the keywords entered in the search. Hopefully, I’ll get it to learn what kind of things the user looks as, so that say… a more technical user who understands all the big words and complex terminology can get directed towards more complex entries that could be of more interest and your average joe user would get a less jargon filled, simpler set of entries to browse through.

Now, it’s all a bit… ambitious, but I’m going to do my best and I’ll learn a lot along the way. 🙂
