Yeah. I know it’s not far off from the end of 2010, but I don’t think I could really do a retrospective of a year’s albums from so close to them. It’s not really fair on the end of year stuff. Or the beginning of year stuff that I forgot. So here it is. My top 9, which I do agree with, according to some magic last.fm tool.<\/p>\n

9. Fightstar<\/a> – Be Human<\/a><\/strong>
\n
\nReleased 20\/4\/2009
\nIf I’m honest, I only got this album because I was going to see Fightstar on Halloween and though I should at least take a cursory listen. It turned out to be pretty good.<\/p>\n

8. Andrew W.K.<\/a> – 55 Cadillac<\/a><\/strong>
\n
\nReleased 1\/9\/2009
\nOh Mr W.K. He of the partying hard came out with an album that was kind of chilled and relaxing. So when you want to chillax hard with off the cuff piano-based meanderings, this is what you want really.<\/p>\n

7. Kasabian<\/a> – West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum<\/a><\/strong>

\nReleased 8\/6\/2009
\nKasabian are ace. They’re ace live. They have ace singles. They have ace videos. The entire album is ace. Highlight is probably Fire.<\/p>\n

6. 30 Seconds to Mars<\/a> – This Is War<\/a><\/strong>
\n
\nReleased 4\/12\/2009
\nBizarrely, I got the first 30stm album because I was a vague My So Called Life fan and thought I might as well check it out and flirted briefly with the whole Echelon thing. Went off the radar for a few years and then this one got released and I thought "hey, this is pretty rockin’" So I listened to it a fair amount and went and saw them at Wembley Arena.<\/p>\n

5. Florence + the Machine<\/a> – Lungs<\/a><\/strong>

\nReleased 6\/7\/2009
\nPretty much every song has been released on this as a single, but it doesn’t make it any less filled with good songs.<\/p>\n

4. Jamie T<\/a> – Kings & Queens<\/a><\/strong>
\n
\nReleased 4\/9\/2009
\nJamie T’s music almost gets me dancing. And that’s saying alot.<\/p>\n

3. White Lies<\/a> – To Lose My Life<\/a><\/strong>
\n
\nReleased 12\/1\/2009
\n"Let’s grow old together, and die at the same time." Is there any more romantic lyric in existence? No. End of.<\/p>\n

2. Maxïmo Park<\/a> – Quicken the Heart<\/a><\/strong>

\nI managed to blag somehow two tickets to see them from the radio and they were fab. This album turned out to be an incredible birthday present packed with songs that I find myself humming in the supermarket. Paul Smith has a magical voice and sings in his own regional accent which always appeals to me.<\/p>\n

1. AFI<\/a> – Crash Love<\/a><\/strong>

\nThere wasn’t really going to be any other album at the top of the list was there? I love AFI. After drifting out of the full-on OMG OBSESSIVE fandom for a while, I dove back in after my dad died and I cannot begin to explain how excited I was about this album. I’m now at the age that AFI were when I first got into their music and I kind of get it better now, but I also love how their music has changed in pretty much exactly the same way my taste has changed. Win all round I think.<\/p>\n
