The manifesto coopts cyborg identity while eliminating reference to disabled people on which the notion of the cyborg is premised. Disabled people who use tech to live are cyborgs. Our lives are not metaphors.

This program backs up your Tumblr onto your computer, and saves it on your hard drive. It ends up looking like this. This program is excellent and easy to use – but also a but intimidating if you have never used command line programmes before.

Why film schools teach screenwriters not to pass the Bechdel test — The Hathor Legacy – While writing Female characters exist to promote male leads for network profits, I realized something I had never quite put together in so many words. It’s important enough to deserve its own article (thanks, Bellatrys!), so here it is: my screenwriting professors taught me not to write scripts that passed the Bechdel/Mo Movie Measure/”Dykes To Watch Out For” test, and I can tell you why, and this needs to be known.

Yes, in the most technical of terms, it’s a prequel to Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” but it’s deriving most of its power from MGM’s vision of Oz, not Baum’s. But even more troubling and disappointing about Sam Raimi’s 3D spectacle “Oz The Great and Powerful” is what character it chooses to crown as its hero: The Wizard.

Is Thor a feminist movie? (Yes) « Social Justice League – There’s no easy way for me to break this to you, so make sure you’re sitting down: Kenneth Branagh’s Thor (2011) is a feminist movie. Okay, I admit that on the surface a movie about an uber-masculine hammer-wielding thunder god doesn’t exactly seem like fertile ground for a feminist reading. But it’s surprisingly subversive of the genre of action movies and an extremely sensitive portrayal of a group of human beings who are dealing with their own crap and other people’s crap and not doing very well with either.
